Would you climb on this “special construction” ?

Would you climb this ‘special construction’? Shipyard workers in the 50s did every day.

Having joined twitter and searched for “ship yards” this picture came up, which reflects a lot of the research I’ve been doing with people who knew the yaird at the sharp end, so I thought i would share it!

  1. John Gale says:

    Dear Ruth
My name is John Gale. An old aged pensioner who lives in Newport South Wales

I am a keen local Historian, who wants to record the past history of Shipbuilding in Newport

In Newport in the 1950,s there was the Atlantic Shipbuilders. It was while Googling for this that I came across your site
I have found some pictures of the ships that they built. But there is a mystery that I have not been able to solve
It is said that a Yacht was built for Aristotle Onnasis
Would you know of any source that records Shipyards that I could contact and gain some information
    Many Thanks
